PREPARARION AND LUMINESCENCE INVESTIGATION OF 2- PHENOXYBENZOAT COMPLEXES OF SOME RARE EARTH ELEMENTS

Abstract

    Some complexes of 2-phenoxybenzoat of some rare earth ions with the formula Nd(Pheb)3.0,5H2O; Sm(Pheb)3.H2O; Eu(Pheb)3.0,5H2O và Gd(Pheb)3.H2O (Pheb:2-phenoxybenzoat) have been prepared. The luminescence properties of these complexes in solid state were investigated by measuring the excitation and emissionspectra, the intramolecular ligand-to-rare earth energy transfer mechanisms were presented. The emission spectra of the Sm(III), Nd(III) complexes displayed bands arising from 4 47/ 2 5/ 2 F  G and 2 411/ 2 3/ 2 H  F transition, respectively. The emission spectra of the Gd(III) ion was determined. In the case of the Eu3+ ion, the photoluminescence data show the hight emision intensity of the characteristic transition 5 70  J D F, indicating that the 2-phenoxybenzoic ligand is a good sensitizer.
