Abstract

This paper presents the results of the hazard, vulnerability, and risk assessment of saline intrusion in the Mekong River Delta based on the commission's assessment approach of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Maximum salinity intrusion distance of salinity 1o/oo và 4o/oo was used to calculate the saline intrusion hazard. Socio-economic data collected from field surveys, and statistical yearbooks were used to calculate saline intrusion exposure and saline intrusion vulnerability. The results indicate that the high levels of hazard, vulnerability, and risks from saline intrusion occur in coastal provinces, especially Kien Giang, Ca Mau, Soc Trang, and Tra Vinh Provinces.
