Current situation of educational activities in supporting talent students in Physics at high schools in Binh Phuoc

Abstract

Abstract: The research aims to investigate the current situation of educational activities in supporting students who are talented in physics at high schools in Binh Phuoc province. Participants were 172 managers and teachers teaching physics for gifted students and 150 talented students in physics in 16 high schools in Binh Phuoc: Quang Trung Gifted High School, Binh Long Gifted High School, Dong Xoai High School, Hung Vuong High School, Phuoc Binh High School, Nguyen Du High School, Dong Phu High School, Chon Thanh High School, Phu Rieng High School, Phuoc Long High School, Binh Long Town High School, Loc Ninh High School, Loc Thai High School, Nguyen Khuyen High School, Thanh Hoa High School, and Nguyen Hue High School. The result of this study shows that managers, teachers and students had proper awareness about the significance of this type of education. Most of high schools in Binh Phuoc province focused on fostering students who have talent in physics. However, there were some limitations such as the inconsistent curriculum contents, a lack of diversity in teaching methods and the modes of teaching and learning and the ineffectiveness of student recruitment strategies. Based on the data analysis, the research also suggested some solutions to enhance the education for physics gifted high schoolers in Binh Phuoc.
