EVALUATION OF THE DYNAMIC LINE RATING SYSTEM AND ITS EFFECTIVENESS FOR THE OPERATION OF THE NATIONAL POWER TRANSMISSION GRID

Abstract

The article introduces the Dynamic Line Rating system of overhead power transmission lines. The system is installed to monitoring the transmission capacity of the power transmission lines in real time based on the instantaneously obtained line parameters and the surrounding environment parameters with the goal of improving transmission efficiency, reducing real-time transmission capacity congestion and timely warning of problems related to line conductor overheating. The article analyzes, evaluates the potential and calculates the installation location of a specific Dynamic Line Rating system at a power transmission line of Power Transmission Company 1 (PTC1) - National Power Transmission Corporation (NPT) are reported.
