Abstract

To realize national programmes on efficiency energy and emisson reduction, studies of generation
dispatch optimization are increasingly paid attention by power industry and researchers. In case of
multi-reservoir cascaded hydrothermal system, optimal scheduling problem has to take into account
affected factors such as hydraulic coupling among hydropower plants, water time delays, overflow
discharge capability, etc. In this paper, a multi-objective optimized scheduling model for
hydro-thermal power system is proposed in the view of energy conservation and environment
protection. The proposed model takes total operation costs of thermal power plants, contaminative
gas emission and spilling water of hydropower plants as optimal objectives. To solve the problem,
the heuristic agent method is applied, and simulation results show the optimal solution with various
benefits of energy savings, emission reduction and environment protection, improved usage of water
resources, improved comprehensive operation of power system, etc.
