Abstract

The medical examination process is the basis on which medical facilities can review the irrational points in the process and take measures to improve the appropriateness of the process and the quality of medical examination and treatment. Along with the rapid increase in the incidence and prevalence of type 2 diabetes, adherence to the medical examination and treatment process will minimize errors in screening and diagnosis. We conducted the study with the aim of identifying factors affecting the implementation of the clinical procedure for the diagnosis and treatment of type 2 diabetes at the Tu Ky District Health Center, Hai Duong Province in 2019, using qualitative research methods (including 4 in-depth interviews and 2 group discussions with health workers directly related to the diagnos and treatment process of type 2 diabetes). The results indicate that some factors affecting the implementation of the process include: the number of professional staff for the diabetes clinic of the health center is not sufficient; professional training for staff of Diabetes Clinic has not been given comprehensive attention; regulations on reward and punishment, supervision and control still have not achieved optimal efficiency; pressures from workload, patient characteristics, remuneration and professional coordination across departments are also relatively influential in implementing clinical procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of type 2 diabetes at Tu Ky District Health Center, Hai Duong province in 2019.
