Survey of waiting time for examination at the Medical Examination Department of General Hospital of Thot Not, Can Tho in 2019

Abstract

Objectives: Describe the waiting time for medical visit at the Examination Department of the General Hospital of Thot Not, Can Tho in 2019 and analyze some factors affecting the patient's waiting time. Methods: Descriptive cross-sectional study, combining qualitative research methods. Results: The average waiting time was 67.9 (27.2) minutes; The average waiting time for medical visit having additional subclinicals was from 87.8 (19.9) minutes to 94.8 (13.4) minutes; The average waiting time of patients who have health insurance was 67.6 (27.7) minutes; The average waiting time of patients who without health insurance was 71.5 (19.7) minutes. Factors influencing waiting time were the lack of BS staff, lack of ultrasound rooms, clinics in the uncompleted medical examination process, limited information technology, patients in need of counseling and public application. Recommendations: For the registration stage, patients can be booked and the time of registration for medical examination by phone and website. In the laboratory, the hospital need to arrange a place to take urine samples and stool near the laboratory, the rooms of the laboratory have interlocked windows. Equipping electronic notice boards for clinics to show numberical order of patients. It is necessary to deploy an additional ultrasound room near the emergency department.
