Abstract

Objectives: This study aims to evaluate the nutritional status of preoperative cardiovascular patients at Viet Duc hospital in 2018. Describe some factors related to nutritional status of preoperative cardiovascular patients at Viet Duc hospital in 2018. Subjects and research methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 110 preoperative cardiovascular patients between March and July 2018. The nutritional status of preoperative cardiovascular patients was evaluated by BMI method (Body Mass Index), SGA (Subjective Globan Assessment) and Albumin and Prealbumin test. Result: Prevalence of chronic malnutrition by BMI was 20%. The proportion of malnutrition by Albumin and Prealbumin test were 21.8%; 43.6%. By SGA method, the proportion of malnutrition was 45.5%. Conclusions and recommendation: The preoperative cardiovascular patients should be evaluated for nutritional status in a comprehensive manner, combining anthropological, clinical and biochemical methods to be provided nutritional indication and appropriate, effective intervention. Patients aged 18-39 at risk of malnutrition, higher than 3.66 times compared with the 40-59 age group according to BMI; men at risk of malnutrition, higher than 2.54 times that of female according to SGA assessment.
