Credit to the poor- International experience and lessons for Vietnam

Abstract

Credit to the poor has launced since 1970s. Bangladesh has been known as a pioneer with the creation of Grameen bank in 1976. By providing financial services for the poor, especially credit without collaterals, credit institutions in many countries have helped poor people to improve their working capacity, increase living standard, and contribute to the course of poverty alliviation. This paper focuses on the model and credit policy in Bangladesh and Indonesia, assesses the successes and failures to withdraw lessons for Vietnam in providing this service.
