Gas sensors research and their application in VietNam - A status report

Abstract

This paper presented a status report on research of gas sensors and their applications in Vietnam academy of Science and Technology (VAST). The gas sensor types were mentioned including semiconducting gas sensor, electrochemical gas sensor and optical gas sensor. The strength in basic research on advanced nano-structured materials for toxic gas sensing in low detection range or ultralow detection range was impressed on an aspect of advantages and limitation. The industrial application developments utilitized the self-made gas sensors inindustrial manufacturing operations in
Vietnamhavebeen considered under the initial steps and modest situations, however, it is also good opportunities for the domestic reasearch units. In this work, our main research results on high temperature electrochemical gas sensors and non-dipersive infrared gas sensors (NDIR) as well as their potential applications to optimizing fuel combustion were shown.
