Nonstationary extreme value analysis for estimation of design water level of Phuan station, Ho Chi Minh city

Abstract

    Recently, under changing of climate related to human activities, the concept of nonstationary extreme value analysis has been improved and is used more frequently in analysis of extreme water level. In this study, the extreme water level timeseries is modelled under nonstationary condition by taking time as covariate. The results show that the GEV-4 is the best nonstationary model for modelling extreme water level for Phuan station. Besides, the water level estimates under the stationary condition are lower than those under the nonstationary condition for most of the return periods.
