Establishment of the numerical map showing the bearing capacity of the foundation for construction planning in Hoi An - Quang Nam

Abstract

In Hoi An city, Quang Nam province, the planning of land use, architectural planning of structures requires a suitable foundation solutions. It is necessary to base on the geomorphological, engineering geological conditions. Additionally, the topological condition also considers the influence of natural disasters in the past. The main objective is to consider and assess the bearing capacity of the foundation in the study area to serve the construction planning purposes. This paper applied the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and geographical information system (GIS) techniques to establish the map showing the soil bearing capacity of the foundation in Hoi An – Quang Nam area. The resulting map is suitable to predict the bearing capacity of shallow foundations, small and large diameter pile foundation for this study area
