Abstract

The purpose of this study is to select and determine the weights of indicators in vulnerability assessment on the agricultural sector in Binh Dinh province by AHP - Analytic Hierarchy Process method with the support of Expert choice software. Indicators with large weights show the role and impact of those indicators in determining the value of the component variables: exposure index (E), sensitive index (S), and adaptive capacity index (AC). The results of the index calculation of the component variables taking into account the weights of the indicators will reflect more objective results when no weights are applied. Analysis of the value of the component index and the vulnerability index shows that: The degree of vulnerability to the agricultural sector in the coastal plain districts and near the sea is greater than that in the mountainous and midland districts. The degree of vulnerability to the agricultural sector of Binh Dinh province is low to very high, of which very high vulnerability is concentrated in coastal districts and near the sea including Hoai Nhon, Phu My, Phu Cat, and Tuy Phuoc districts; high vulnerability in An Lao and Hoai An districts; districts in the southwest of the province have low to moderate levels of vulnerability to the agricultural sector.
