THE IMPACT OF LOCAL PEOPLE ON FOREST RESOURCES AT PU LUONG NATURAL RESERVE AREA, THANH HOA PROVINCE

Abstract

Recently, local people have had a negative impact on forest resources in Pu Luong Nature Reserve through activities such as logging; hunt wild animals and other non-timber forest products. 73.8% of the surveyed households, who exploited timber with an average volume of 3.13 m3/year, the main purpose are building houses and build household appliances. 100% of the surveyed households, who exploited firewood with an amount from 4045 kg to 4795 kg for cook. Wildlife hunting has been greatly restricted. Most of the households go to the forest to harvest about 32 species non-timber forest products with the main purpose of meeting food and medical needs.
