CURRENT STATUS AND SOLUTION FOR URBAN TREES DEVELOPMENT IN SAM SON CITY

Abstract

Sam Son city of Thanh Hoa province is a coastal city, a famous tourist destination in Vietnam. Tree species composition on street system in Sam Son city currently has 18 species with a total of 3299 trees, the number of trees in each species is not equal. Some species have a large number of trees, such as: Hopea odorata 895 trees, Khaya senegalensis 704 trees, Barringtonia racemosa 303 trees, Terminalia catappa 281 trees, Terminalia mantaly includes 270 trees, Pterocarpus macrocarpus accounts 230 trees, Hura crepitans 114 trees, Chukrasia tabularis 111 trees, Delonix regia 103 trees etc. There are some species, which have a few trees likes: Ficus drupacea (1 tree), Erythrina fusca (4 trees), Ficus benjamina (3 trees). Most of the trees are growing well, their morphology are suitable for urban. Some big trees make good shade. Many species have beautiful flower, which make a special landscape attractive point for Sam Son city.
However, it is necessary to select and plant some species, which make beautiful landscape likes: Cassia fistulosa, Erythrina fusca, Hopea odorata, Pterocarpus macrocarpus, Barringtonia racemosa, Khaya senegalensis, Delonix regia. It improves landscape for city. Besides, it is necessary to reject some species, which are not suitable with planting in urban such as: Terminalia catappa L; Gleditsia australis Hemsl. ex Forbes... and to replace many old trees, any trees were diseases .
