Abstract

The study was conducted in 2018 in order to evaluate growth and development of several cassava varieties grown in rainfed mountainous areas in three provinces in Northern Central (Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh). In this study, eight cassava varieties were tested for their drought tolerance, including KM325, KM140, KM94, KM98-1, KM98-7, HL-S11, Sa21-12, Sa06 in which KM325 was a check variety. Results showed that the variety KM140 took the shortest time for germination (7days) and had good tolerance to droughts under rainfed condition. KM140 had a significantly higher yield of 38,6 tons/ha compared to the check variety and the other varieties in rain-fed condition.
