Learning about the inner dialogue language of characters in a story

Abstract

The paper clarifies issues about the concepts of inner dialogue language of characters in a story. After reviewing literature, terms and different concepts of the inner dialogue by Hoa Nguyen (2006), Han Le, Su Tran and Phi Nguyen (2006), Katie Wales (2001), and Mikhail Bakhtin (1993), the paper’s author introduces positions, modes of expression and roles of the inner dialogue in story language. In this paper, the inner dialogue is considered characters’ language, and it is surveyed from the perspective of philology.
