Abstract

The paper presents the history of formation and development of Hindu temples in Ho Chi Minh City from the angle of cultural studies. There are three Hindu temples in Ho Chi Minh City. These temples have been over one hundred years. They were built by the community of Indian immigrants in Saigon. When the South of Vietnam was independent, under good Vietnam-India diplomatic relations, these temples resumed work. Nowadays, the temples serve as the foundation of belief for many Vietnamese, Chinese, Cham, Khmer and Indian businessmen when coming to Vietnam. However, current literature about the temples is still modest. The paper initially outlines the process of formation and over-100-year existence of the temples.
