Abstract: This paper focuses on Vietnamese immigrant mothers in Taiwan, with the objective of assessing intending to assess how they socialize their children. Results showed that although Vietnamese immigrant mothers met many difficulties in everyday life, such as lack of power and control in relation to husbands and in-laws due to their language barrier and low socio- economic status, they have tried to socialize their children in the direction of integrating well into Taiwanese society, while preserving the Vietnamese cultural identities. These mothers require their children to use Mandarin to have language socialization while encouraging them to learn English and Vietnamese; at the same time, they introduce cultural heritages and accustomed culinary culture of Vietnam to prepare their children to become productive and successful in adulthood.

Keywords: Socialization; Vietnamese immigrant mothers; children; Taiwan
