EVALUATING NEEDS OF STUDENTS OF THE FACULTY OF PHARMACY, THAI NGUYEN UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE AND PHARMACY FOR COMMUNICATION SKILLS CLASS

Abstract

Communication skills in Medicine and Pharmacy has been considered one of the most fundamental competencies to be required of medical professionals. However, there is not-guarantee that students fully grasp the usefulness of communication skills for clinical practice. This study aims to evaluate needs of the 2nd and 3rd year students of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Thai Nguyen University of Medicine and Pharmacy for communication skills class based on data processing methods using Excel software on computers. We conducted research on 210 students of university pharmacy K17 and K18. Through the survey, we received 210 feedback forms (response rate reached 100%). Research results showed that students who understand communication skills but have not applied them in practice accounts for 64.28%. Students need communication skills to help them be confident and active, 92.85%. In terms of current communication skills, most students are at an unsatisfied level, accounting for 73.3%. The proportion of students wishing to participate in communication skills classes is quite high, accounting for 64.28%.
