STUDY ON BUILDING SCADA SYSTEM FOR ELECTRICAL SUBSTATION USING IoT VBOX

Abstract

The demand for power supply reliability of the distribution grid is increasing. Therefore, the idea of constructing a SCADA gateway in the substation is proposed to facilitate the construction and development of the Remote Station for SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) system more quickly, effectively, and efficiently. IoT (Internet of Things) technology is growing day by day. This technology helps connect devices to each other and to the Internet, enabling them to communicate and interact with each other more easily. This paper presents the application method of the Vbox IoT device to build a SCADA system for an electrical substation. An experimental model was built using the Wecon Vbox IoT device, IED (Intelligent Electronic Devices) devices, and a SCADA interface (software) for the Tien Du 110KV substation. This combined hardware and software model tests monitoring parameters and controls electrical equipment within the substation. The test results show that this system can monitor the operating parameters of the substation, remotely control (on, off) electrical equipment in the substation.
