ASSESSMENT OF THE POTENTIAL LAND OF HILL LAND AREA OF BACH THONG DISTRICT, BAC KAN PROVINCE

Abstract

In order to orient solutions for sustainable land use in hilly areas of Bach Thong district, Bac Kan province, the research has focused on potential assessment and land suitability classification. The study was carried out by the combined method of inheriting the data of the first survey report, assessing the soil quality and land potential in Bac Kan province for the first time and conducting the survey and review on the characteristics of the soil properties in hilly areas of Bach Thong district. The research results show that: The map of land units in the hilly area of ​​Bach Thong district has 72 LMUs, fully showing the characteristics and properties of the land according to 6 selected criteria. Out of a total of 30,540.70 hectares of hilly land assessed, there are 9,779.70 hectares of very potential land, accounting for 17.90%; the average potential land area reached 9,746.90 ha, accounting for 17.84% and the low potential land area was very large, up to 11,014.10 ha. The land area very suitable and suitable for LUTs for rice and crops is very low, mainly unsuitable soil. The suitable land area for citrus fruit trees is 4,782.44 ha and 2,358.91 ha, showing that this is the strength of Bach Thong district. This is the point of attention for the solution of sustainable land use in the hilly areas of Bach Thong district, Bac Kan province.
