Abstract

The essential oil from the leaves and twigs of the Podocarpus neriifolius was collected in Xuan Nha Nature Reserve, Son La province was obtained by steam distillation.  The content of essential oil from leaves and branches of Longleaf pine species reached 0.019% and 0.013% (according to air-dried materials). Essential oils are pale yellow, lighter than water. By means of chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC/MSD), 33 constituents from the essential oil leaves of Long-leaf pine have been identified, accounting for 88.63% of the total crystal content, the main constituents were β-caryophyllene (29.08%), α-humulene (7.03%), beyerene (5.52%), bicyclogermacrene (4.64%), germacrene D (3.90%);  46 constituents from the branches of the twigs of the twigs of the longleaf pine species have been identified, accounting for 97.13% of the total essential oil, the main components of the essential oil include: α-pinene (18.2%), β-caryophyllene (26.48%), E-4,8-dimethylnona-1,3,7-triene (6.13%), α-humulene (6.07%), α-copaene (5.14%), germacrene D (3.73%). This is the first study on the chemical constituents of essential oils from the leaves and twigs of Podocarpus neriifolius in Vietnam.
