LITERARY COMPETENCE IN THE CURRICULUM AND TEXTBOOK OF VIETNAMESE FOR GRADE 2 (KITE BOOK COLLECTION)

Abstract

The 2018 curriculum has clearly defined the goals of quality and capacity development for high school students. With the subject of Literature (called Vietnamese in primary school), in addition to the general competencies, the curriculum emphasizes on the formation and development of two specific competencies for learners, namely “language competence” and "literary competence". The 2018 curriculum takes the practice of communication skills (reading, writing, speaking and listening) as the main axis throughout all three levels of education in order to meet the requirements of capacity development and ensure the integrity, wholeness and constant consistency across all levels of education and classes. On the basis of a combination of theoretical and practical research methods, assessment methods; the article focuses on analyzing the requirements to be met as well as the manifestations of literary competence through the Kite textbooks of Vietnamese for grade 2. The research results show that the determination of literary competence, manifestations of literary competence in Vietnamese language teaching in primary school in general and the identification of manifestations of literary competence through the content of teaching Vietnamese in the Kite book collection for grade 2 will help clarify the orientation of capacity development for primary school students; at the same time, it will help teachers to have orientations in teaching and to test and evaluate students, to respond to curriculum innovations.
