THE CIRCULATION OF AFRICAN SWINE FEVER VIRUS (ASFV) IN DIEN BIEN PROVINCE
Abstract
African swine fever (ASF) outbreaks firstly occurred in Dien Bien province since March 06, 2019, then the disease had spread to 10/10 districts/cities with 100/130 towns and villages in Dien Bien province. The epidemiological indicators were determined basing on the epidemic reports from Sub-Department of Animal Health in the period 2019 - 2022. The results showed that the prevalence rate of ASF virus in localities of Dien Bien province was 26.36 - 76.92%. Pigs of all ages can be infected, in which, pigs are infected and destroyed mainly in the group of pigs and piglets (75.04%), lower than that of sows and boars (24.96%). The rate of disease and destruction accounts for 0.44 - 7.74% of the total number of pigs in the province. In 2019, Dien Bien province has a translation year coefficient of 2.93. The year 2020 to 2022 this coefficient was less than 1.
