Abstract

Dendrobium is a genus of orchids with the second largest species diversity after the genus Bulbophyllum. However, their value are much greater than that of the Orchid. In the genus Dendrobium, there are many species that give beautiful and fragrant flowers. One of these species, Hoang Thao Tram (Dendrobium parishii Rchb. f. (Orchidaceae)) is a species with a high attractive aroma which were confirmed by scientific studies on extracting the essential oil. Currently, natural species D. parishii in the forest is being seriously degraded due to overexploitation and uncontrolled exploitation while the quantity of industrially produced seed has not been effectively exploited. The tissue of breeding to provide a source of plants for ornamental collection and essential oil extraction should be concerned. In this study, some conditions for in vitro culture and care of D. parishii seedlings at nursery stage were investigated. The study results showed that the suitable clean seed protocorm generation medium of D. parishii which was MS supplemented with BAP or kinetin 1.5 mg/l, the supplements included green banana, potato and carrot puree each. 40 g/l. The in vitro seedlings at the nursery stage are cared for in accordance with the following conditions: i) suitable in vitro seedling medium is coir; ii) planting density is 1 tree/pot; iii) Initial watering with tap water and using 60% sun net to cover the plants.
