CHARACTERISTICS AND SOME FACTORS RELATED TO THE RESULTS OF TREATMENT OF NEONATAL PNEUMONIA AT THAI NGUYEN NATIONAL HOSPITAL
Abstract
The study aims to describe clinical, subclinical characteristics and some factors related to the results of treatment of neonatal pneumonia. A descriptive cross – sectional study was performed on 188 pneumonia patients treated at Thai Nguyen National Hospital from October 2020 – September 2021. The results showed that: Neurological symptoms: awake: 92.0%, fever: 26.6%; hypothermia: 14.9%. The most common respiratory symptoms were cough, tachypnea, chest indrawing, wheezing, auscultation with moist rales and more common full – term newborn than in preterm newborn. Less common symptoms were apnea accounted for 6.4%, bradypnea (<30 breaths/minute) accounted for 1.6% and encountered mainly in preterm newborn. There were 31.9% of patients with changes in white blood cell count. The rate of increasing neutrophil acounts for 61.2%; Increasing CRP accounted for 16.5%, with lesions on X-ray accounted for 76.1%. The rate succesful treatment was 87.8%. There were some related factors with results of treatment, such as: preterm newborn, birth weight <2500g, congenital heart disease, diarrhea, jaundice, dermatitis… The difference was statistically significant with p <0.05.
