ASSESSMENT OF THE IMPLEMENTATION OF ADVANCED NEW RURAL CONSTRUCTION IN TAN CUONG COMMUNE, THAI NGUYEN CITY, THAI NGUYEN PROVINCE
Abstract
Tan Cuong is a mountainous agricultural commune, located 11 km west of the center of Thai Nguyen city, Thai Nguyen province, with a natural area of 14.7 km2 with 1,456 households, 5,533 people and 43% of the population following the Catholic religion. In August 2015, Tan Cuong achieved new rural commune status and continued to build a model new rural commune in the 2021-2025 period. The research team used data collection methods, field investigation methods and expert methods to point out Tan Cuong commune’s limitations and causes in the process of building the new rural commune. Research results have shown that out of 10 criteria that need to be maintained to meet new rural standards according to Decision No. 1164/QD-UBND of Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Committee, there are a number of criteria that have decreased in quality such as criteria on schools (No. 5), criteria on cultural facilities (No. 6), criteria on information and communication (No. 8). Among the criteria for building a model new rural commune to achieve an enhanced new rural area, there is criterion No. 17 on environment and food safety that has not yet met the standards.
