Abstract

Northern Midland and Mountainous Region is an area with a lot of potential for developing agriculture and forestry. It is home to more than 30 ethnic groups. This article focuses on analyzing the strength, indigenous understanding of ethnic minorities in the region in agriculture and forestry in the context of science, technology and digital economy development. The research methods used include synthesizing and analyzing documents, specialist method, and field method. The research results show that in the development process, local people have accumulated a lot of information about farming, animal husbandry and afforestation. However, their livelihood is closely dependent on natural resources, therefore, besides the advantages of indigenous understanding, there are also limitations and shortcomings. In order for the Northern Midland and Mountainous Region to become a green, sustainable and comprehensive developed area, it is necessary to have a harmonious combination of indigenous understanding and scientific knowledge. This article analyzes the important role of indigenous understanding in the livelihood and lives of local people in the region and the combination of the indigenous understanding with scientific and technological knowledge in developing agriculture and forestry.
