SOME PATHOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF PIGS INFECTED WITH AFRICAN SWINE FEVER DISEASE IN QUANG NINH PROVINCE

Abstract

The study was conducted to study on some pathological characteristics of pigs infected with African swine fever disease in Quang Ninh province, the results showed that: totally testing 2150 suspected samples of pigs infected with the disease, there were found 1586 positive samples, accounted for 73.77%. Infected pigs have clinical manifestations such as: high fever, dyspnoea, hoarseness, red patches appeared on the thin skin regions, green and purple pea-shaped spots concentrated on thin skin, purple-green ears. 100% of infected pigs have lymphadenopathy, inguinal lymph nodes, mesenteric lymph nodes were swollen, congestive, hemorrhagic; enlarged spleen, congestive, reddish-brown hemorrhage. From 65.33% to 88% of infected pigs had chest sinus containing a lot of yellow, reddish-brown fluid; lung congestion and hemorrhage; enlarged liver, gallbladder, congestion and interstitial hemorrhage; inflammation, congestion and interstitial hemorrhage in the intestine. Microscopic lesions concentrated mainly on lymph nodes, spleen and kidneys. 12/12 specimens had microscopic lesions, reached 100% of the total number of congestion and hemorrhage. The phenomenon of cell necrosis, degeneration and inflammatory cell infiltration in the lymph nodes, spleen, and kidneys have occurred quite high with the rate from 33.33% to 75%.
