Abstract

Da Hoi Iron and Steel Village which is a huge factory of hot-red steels with modern and diversified products pollute the environment. However, this village does not have a waste water treatment system. One of the typical pollution types caused by the production activities of the craft village is the pollution of oil and grease in the waste water. This study applied several research methods, including collect information, assessment based on community, synthesis, data treatment, caculator, analysis. The objective of this study is to evaluate the effeciency of biological treatment methods and materials to product waste water in village. Waste water produced by the craft village is treated by filtration field method with filtration efficiency up to 59.84 for oil and grease; 52.24% for iron; 63.43% for suspended solids; 58.18% for total suspended solids; 72.8% for BOD5, 76.77% for COD. The microbiological treatment method (made of self-created microbiological materials) has high efficiency and high feasibility; treatment efficiency for X material reached 82.57% for grease, 81.64% for iron, 53.71% for total suspended solids, 66.18% for total solids; 75.76% for BOD, 72.17% for COD. For material Y, treatment efficiency reached 82.08% for grease, 84.33% for iron, 59.43% for total suspended solids, 70.18% for total solids; 78.18% for BOD, 76% for COD.
