CHARACTERISTICS PERIPHERAL BLOOD CELLS OF BREAST CANCER PATIENTS AT THAI NGUYEN CENTRAL HOSPITAL

Abstract

The research aims to describe the characteristics of peripheral blood cells’ composition in newly diagnosed breast cancer patients. The study was conducted on 80 newly diagnosed breast cancer patients at Thai Nguyen Oncology Center from January 2020 to October 2021 (disease group), 80 healthy people having regular check-ups (control group). Research method was cross-sectional descriptive. The research target is the results of peripheral blood cell tests by medical software. The results obtained were statistically significant (compared to the control group): Increase in monocyte count and decrease in lymphocyte count; Decrease in the number of red blood cells; Slight increase in mean platelet volume. From our study, there is a change in the characteristics of peripheral blood cells’ composition in newly diagnosed breast cancer patients (especially red blood cells).
