Investigating factors affecting to EPC (FIDIC) contract performance: Project lifecycle perspective

Abstract

Many foreign-invested construction investment projects in Vietnam currently apply FIDIC Contracts, typically the Urban Railway Line No. 1 Project in Ho Chi Minh City, Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien. Effective management of EPC Contracts (FIDIC) is one of the important factors contributing to project success. Therefore, this study focuses on clarifying the factors affecting the effectiveness of Contract management. The study was conducted through a survey to get feedback from leaders and experts in the infrastructure construction industry. In this study, 100 survey questionnaires were sent out using the convenience sampling method; and 72 valid questionnaires were returned, reaching a response rate of 72%. Through descriptive statistical analysis and factor testing, the study shows that the group of factors significantly affect the effectiveness of EPC contract management is the ability to control EPC contract progress in the construction stage.
