Abstract

Binh Duong province is a key area for industrial production in southern Vietnam. Therefore, there is a high volume of traffic, which often creates traffic jams in the province, including Tan Phuoc Khanh ward. In 2020, Binh Duong province launched a project to upgrade and expand DH 403 from Binh Chuan intersection to the intersection of Dai Liet Si Tan Phuoc Khanh road. Calculating the clearance requires a method that saves time and reduces costs while ensuring the required accuracy when applying GIS. The data on the land parcels affected by the upgrading and expansion of DH 403 is measured by an electronic total station. These data were then inputted in GIS to build the spatial and non-spatial data to build the land parcels with geometric information and non-spatial data, including land use types and owners. The outputs required by the project are maps showing the areas of the land parcels and the calculated compensation values of each owner. Moreover, GIS is not only able to calculate the compensation values integrated with spatial data on a platform, but it also supports very efficiently the next stages of project management. The research demonstrates that applying GIS provides a method to save time and reduce costs in calculating land acquisition values for site clearance in road construction. The land acquisition value map created by this method has become an effective tool to provide intuitive, accurate, and reliable information to stakeholders in the road widening planning process.

Key words: Clearance; land recovery; compensation; GIS; DH403.
