Appropriate technology solution for small and medium capacity surface water treatment in concentrated rural residential areas

Abstract

Water treatment technology for rural areas today (specifically the mixing - reaction - settling - filtration - disinfection process) has a significant impact on construction area, cost of management, operation of treatment stations, not to mention the technical expertise of personnel.

Within the scope of this article, the author proposes a suitable surface water treatment technology chain for concentrated rural areas: Static mixing device - Self - cleaning contact flocculation filter tank - Gravity filter tank - Ozone disinfection, aiming to replace the cluster of tanks (Mixing - Reaction - Settling) in the water treatment technology chain with a cluster (Static mixing device - self-cleaning contact flocculation floating media filter tank), reducing construction area, enhancing posttreatment water quality, lowering operation and management costs, ensuring safe water quality that aligns with the operating staff's expertise. This is applicable to small and medium-sized concentrated rural surface water treatment stations.
