Assessing corporate social responsibility performance of construction firms in An Giang

Abstract

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is an important concept for businesses. However, CSR performance faces various difficulties in construction enterprises. This study was conducted to analyze the implementation of CSR of An Giang construction firms. Through the literature review and discussions with experts, 31 CSR practices had been identified, divided into 04 groups: Group 1: Relationship with stakeholders; Group 2: Ethical responsibility; Group 3: Charitable social responsibility; Group 4: Environmental responsibility. The analysis showed that CSR activities belonging to "Group 2: Ethical Responsibility" were best performed by construction enterprises in An Giang. CSR activities in “Group 1: Relations with stakeholders” ranked second best, followed by “Group 4: Environmental responsibility”. “Group 3: Social philanthropic responsibility” ranked last in CSR activities. This study could be used as a framework for CSR implementation for construction enterprises in An Giang as well as other areas.
