Practical method for stirrup design of reinforced concrete beam with rectangular cross section subjected to shear force

Abstract

This study presents a practical method for stirrups design of reinforced concrete beam with rectangular cross section subjected to uniformly distributed and concentrated loads. The proposed method is based on the TCVN 5574:2018, combined with reference to the calculation conditions of some advanced reinforced concrete structure design standards in the world such as German, European and Canadian standards, which allows to calculate the strength on the inclined section without considering the inclined sections when determining the shear force due to the external force. The proposed method allows to conveniently and easily calculate the stirrups of reinforced concrete beams with rectangular cross section under the effect of uniformly distributed and concentrated loads with small relative error when compared to the exact method. The simplicity and convenience along with the acceptable error of the proposed method are suitable for engineers in the practice calculation of reinforced concrete structures.
