Abstract

The glaze for ceramic tile is usually clear and has high solar transmittance and low solar reflectance. Therefore, more solar energy enters the body of the tile and emits to the surrounding environment, reducing the ability of ceramic roof tiles to shield, insulate, and resist heat. TiO2 oxide was added to clear ceramic roof tile glaze with different concentrations of 0%, 2%, 4%, 6%, 8% and 10% and investigated its influence on the solar reflectivity of ceramic roof tile. The results show that the ability to reflect solar energy of glazed ceramic roof tiles increases when the concentration of TiO2 in the glaze increases and reaches the highest at 8% and almost does not increase anymore. At 8% TiO2 content, ceramic roof tile glaze has a solar reflectance coefficient of 0,84. The appearance of tile glaze also changes according to the TiO2 content in the glaze, from transparent to white.
