Long Research on the causes and impacts of sideduction, landroids and traffic works in dry summer in Cuu Long river delta
Abstract
Various negative impacts on the environment, economy and society due to subsidence and landslides of traffic works have been a problem in the Mekong Delta in recent years. Prolonged drought together with hydroelectric dams that prevent flow from upstream to the Mekong Delta and closure of irrigation sluices to prevent saltwater intrusion, over-exploitation of groundwater have been identified as the main causes of subsidence, landslides of traffic works in the dry season in the Mekong Delta. This article gives an overview of the occurrence of subsidence, landslides of traffic works in the Mekong Delta during the dry season. History, characteristics, identified causes and impacts of subsidence, landslides on traffic works in the area are discussed.
