Characteristics of municipal solid waste incineration ashes in Vietnam and potential used as construction material

Abstract

This study aims to characterize the physicochemical properties and micro-structural characteristics of municipal solid waste incineration ashes in Vietnam. In addition, hazardous components contained in the ashes are also analyzed in accordance with the guidelines of the technical and environmental regulations. The research results are then compared with the standard requirements in order to assess the quality level as well as the potential use of these ashes as raw materials for the production of construction materials. The research results further contribute to the effective use of resources and environmental protection toward sustainable development.
