Ground Granulated Blast-Furnace Slag - Essential building materials for Southern Key Economic Region, coastal areas and islands of Vietnam

Abstract

Since 2008, along with the remarkable development of Vietnam's steel industry, the output of Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GBFS) has also dramatically increased and become a valuable source of active mineral additives for cement and concrete industries. This paper presents the production technology of Ground Granulated Blast-Furnace Slag (GGBS) type S95 at Hoa Phat Group (HPG) and the use status of S95 products from 2019 to 2021. With outstanding advantages, S95 product is expected to be increasingly widely used in cement and concrete production in the provinces in the Southern Key Economic Region, coastal areas and islands of Vietnam to cope with the effects of climate change.
