Abstract

The double-walled structure consists of two independent walls with horizontally connected beams, also known as open-walled walls. Depending on the opening size, the double shear wall is calculated within the elastic limit in different cases. According to seismic standards, the double shear wall has a higher response coefficient than normal wall structure, which means better response to the dynamic impact to the doubled wall. Because the connecting beams are usually smaller than the walls, when working in the structural system, the beams are subjected to large internal forces and tend to fail before the walls. This will affect the performance of the double wall structure. The article will describe the post-elastic work of the connecting beam, then place it in the structural system to analyze and evaluate the behavior of the double-walled structure in terms of: bearing capacity, displacement and wall ductility. The results form the basis for the calculation and design of this structure.
