Abstract

This paper introduces the results of studying on coal ash from Cam Pha-Quang Ninh thermal power plant as aggregates to manufacture bricks and blocks using silicon polymer binder (CKD PS). From the research results of this waste, by using Andersen’s formula to calculate the particle composition of coal ash aggregates through the index n. By the experimental planning, the optimal aggregate composition has been determined with the highest bulk density, the smallest porosity with index n = 0.43 and time of compaction by vibration equals 60 seconds. With the absolute water volume method, the actual porosity of the aggregate particle mixture has been determined, which is the basis for calculating the amount of CKD PS to calculate the composition of the aggregates. By the experimental planning, the optimal composition of raw materials has been determined with the properties of the binder and the properties of the bricks. This composition of bricks and blocks: aggregates 1760 kg/m3, CKD PS 480 kg/m3, additive/CKD PS = 0.1. In addition, this article also introduces the technological line to manufacture bricks, blocks from the coal ash of the thermal power plant and CKD PS. The topic has great significance in terms of science, economy and environmental protection.
