Observing shoreline change of Cu Lao Dung island by satellite image analysis

Abstract

The objective of this study is observing the shoreline change around Dung island from 2008 to 2022 by remote sensing techniques. Multispectral Landsat images were utilized for the analysis. The analysis results show that from 2008 to 2022, the beach area increased 309 ha while the erosion have caused 78 ha of land lost along the riverbank. In addition, maximum erosion with the retreat of 61 m of the riverbank was observed and the shoreline along the beach advanced 650 m.
