Abstract

The objective of this study is to model the wave reduction effectiveness of the pile-rock breakwater using Flow-3D. Input data such as breakwater geometry, bathymetry, water level and wind condition were collected from the shop drawings of the breakwater and the wind resource data from Vortex FDC. Measured wave heights are used to compare with the modelling results. The modelling results show that maximum wave heights in front of and behind the breakwaters are 0,69 m and 0,24 m, respectively. The wave reducton effectiveness from the Flow-3D model is 65% for maximum wave height (Hmax) and 69% for significant wave height (Hs) while the wave reducton effectiveness from the measured data is 86% for maximum wave height (Hmax) and 82% for significant wave height (Hs).
