A case study of structural - foundation - soil interaction behavior

Abstract

The article uses SAP2000 software to simulate the simultaneous behavior of the structural frame, foundation and soil in a 3D model. The analysis results show significant differences in internal forces in columns and walls compared to the case of separate calculations mainly within 1/3 of the structure's height. In the simultaneous working model, the vertical forces in the corner columns are larger by 1.2-27% and up to 60% for the tensile force in the walls compared to the separate model. The analysis of simultaneous behavior allows for the consideration of the stiffness of the foundation and structural frame, showing a more even distribution of settlement at different locations and consistent with actual monitoring results.
