Characteristics of Hypecbolic paraboloid and applications in architecture

Abstract

This paper presents the process of studying the Hypecbolic Paraboloid and its applicability in architecture. The purpose of this study is to provide the concept, way of creating surfaces, and classifying cross-sections of Hypecbolic Paraboloid, thereby proposing suggestions for the application of Hypecbolic Paraboloid in architecture. The research result shows that the Hypecbolic Paraboloid is a curved surface with high application in architecture. In addition to the form of softly curved surfaces for aesthetic effect, it is also a strong structure because the Hypecbolic Paraboloid can be built by straight steel beams, facilitating the construction process at a lower cost than other types of curved surfaces.
