Special properties of bivalve shell in the sea of Viet Nam

Abstract

This paper presents the results of investigation to detect differences in chemical composition, mineral composition and structure of bivalve shell under the same living conditions of Viet Nam marine environment. The bivalve shell presented by the research team in this paper includes Oyster shell, Clam shell, Mussel shell, Cockle shell. These studies are compared with the properties of limestone due to the similar CaCO₃ content. On the basis of special characteristics of the bivalve shells it is given suitable direction for application.
