Research on the factors affecting the seletion of construction contractors of irrigation works in Ben Tre province

Abstract

The goal of this research is to analyze and evaluate the factors influencing the selection of contractors for water irrigation construction projects in Ben Tre province. To achieve the above goal, the following steps were undertaken: Data collection and statistical analysis to preliminarily identify potential influencing factors; Expert interviews to assess the relevance of these factors to the specific characteristics of water irrigation projects in Ben Tre province; Expert surveys to assess the level of influence (using the Likert scale); Quantitative analysis, including Cronbach's Alpha reliability and exploratory factor analysis EFA. Subsequently, confirmatory factor analysis CFA was performed to assess the quality of the influencing factors and determine the convergence and discrimination of the measurement scale. The research results identified 29 influencing factors under four groups of factors: (i) Group of Investors/bidding consultants; (ii) Group of institutions and policies; (iii) Group of project characteristics; (iv) Group of construction contractors, as a basis for analysis, evaluation and recommendations to enhance the quality of contractor selection for water irrigation construction projects in Ben Tre province.
