Abstract

This paper presents results on utilization of steel slags from various steelmaking technologies in Vietnam (including BOF - Basic oxygen furnace, EAF - Electric arc furnace , IF - Electric induction furnace) for application as a substitute for iron ore in the production of cement clinker. The raw materials (limestone, clay, iron ore, siliceous rock) and steel slag samples were analyzed for their chemical composition to calculate and make raw meals according to the selected manufacturing coefficient. The grindability and burnability of raw meals were evaluated compared with the control sample. The mineralization properties of the obtained clinker samples and the physico-mechanical characteristics (water demand, setting time, compressive strength) of cement obtained by grinding clinker with gypsum up to a fineness of approx. 3200 cm2/g is also evaluated.
